Who is behind Tukadu?
Roberta is the founder and passed the reins to her son Tilman in 2015. Since then we both run the business together ;)
What can you find in the Tukadu online shop and in the Tukadu store?
You can find our current ones on tukadu.comjewelry collections, in theDIY collection also some classics as a handicraft set, and of course selected bead mixtures, jewelery accessories and tools.
At the Tukadu Store, the focus has traditionally been on our huge range of beads made from materials such as glass, semi-precious stone, wood or acrylic. There are also jewelry pendants made of metal and various found and individual items. For each jewelry project, we offer detailed advice as well as the right jewelry accessories and tools.
A large part of our jewelry is also created in the Tukadu Store, which is then also exhibited here.
How do you describe the Tukadu style?
We have original and funny statement jewelry.
Our pieces of jewelry have always been collages of classic jewelry elements with unconventional eye-catchers such as animal figures, miniatures, tools and everything that is fun. These are cult colorful clunkers, but also filigree and detail-loving accessories. Our collections are traditionally small and exclusive, but that's exactly why they enjoy worldwide popularity with our steadily growing fan base.
How long has Tukadu existed?
The first Tukadu pearl shop opened its doors in Prenzlauer Berg in 1993. In 1998 we moved to Kollwitzplatz and in 1996 we opened the second store on Hackescher Markt.
What does working with jewelry mean to you?
The most beautiful thing about our work is the beaming eyes of our customers when they hold the piece of jewelery they have designed in their hands. Realizing spontaneous and individual jewelry ideas gives us the most pleasure and is at the same time the greatest motivation.
Of course, this also applies to repairs to old family heirlooms or holiday souvenirs. The idea of sustainability has always been a priority for us.
Who shops at Tukadu?
Our clientele includes all age groups. In addition to domestic and international tourists, there are currently Berliners who value unique and tailor-made accessories. This also includes jewelery designers who need unusual elements for their own creations. Thanks to our large selection of jewelry and pearls, every taste will find its counterpart in the Tukadu cosmos.
